Live Long

We at Valrhona recently launched our “Live Long Program” which draws on our years of sustainable practices and community values. We set ourselves ambitious goals around COCOA, the ENVIRONMENT, GASTRONOMY and the LIVES OF OUR STAKEHOLDERS, to together create the Valrhona of tomorrow. One of our goals is to be actively involved in supporting the field of gastronomy and its professionals, both current and future. Our École Valrhona schools around the world help continued training for pastry professionals plus offer aspiring or home cooks a chance to discover pastry. We support organizations that grow gastronomy and train future chefs. Our hope is that through these initiatives, we can help make a difference in the lives of young people.

As part of our ambition to develop the talents of future professionals and help disadvantaged youth find passion and employment in the kitchen, we have decided to work with the esteemed C-CAP (Careers through Culinary Arts Program), a charitable 501 (c)(3) educational organization in our shared mission.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 by December 2018 with all proceeds going to C-CAP's Job Training Program.
• Valrhona will donate $2 for every 3kg bag of new Blond ORELYS 35% sold in North America.
• Valrhona will also donate all proceeds of the Valrhona Hot Chocolate Festival and Kick-off Party.

The money raised will go directly to funding program costs associated with running C-CAP’S Job Training Program around the country, including but not limited to: ingredients for kitchen training, supplies for job readiness training, student uniforms and handbooks, training and workshop space, program facilitators, etc. Through the C-CAP Job Training Program we plan on helping more than 200 students all over the country!

Led by chef, author, and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson, C-CAP educates and guides underserved high school students toward a bright future in seven locations across the country. Through its holistic approach to culinary training and career exploration, C-CAP prepares students for the workplace through chef mentoring, field trips, job shadowing, work experience and job skills training, and college and career advising. Countless C-CAP alumni work throughout the country and are guiding the future leaders of the culinary and hospitality industry.

About the C-CAP’s Job Training Program

C-CAP’s Job Training Program prepares underserved high school students for work in professional kitchens through an intensive training in kitchen skills, such as knife cuts, safety and sanitation, food identification, as well as life skills such as communication, time management, problem solving, resume writing, and interviewing tips. Training is often followed by a paid internship in a notable professional kitchen. While interning, students are mentored by professional chefs. This Program prepares C-CAP students to enter the restaurant and hospitality industry where they can pursue a fulfilling career. This Program serves over 200 high school students each year.
